Become a Volunteer
Welcoming 150,000 visitors of all ages, nationalities, faiths, cultures and backgrounds, Volunteering at Rochester Cathedral will provide you with a host of new skills and the ground to exercise your existing ones!
You will meet new people, learn new things and be a part of a buzzing hub of culture, history, and heritage where there really is loads going on...
Below are some examples of areas where you can help as a volunteer.

The Welcome Desk
The first point of contact for our visitors. Here they will collect their audio guides, leaflets, and Guidebooks. It also serves as the information point for all the users of the Cathedral and is vital to its smooth running!
An ability to commit to a regular slot and a willingness to handle cash are essential to be part of this team.
Guides
The knowledge base of the Cathedral, our Guides show groups round the building, giving them a personal insight into the history, architecture and characters that have previously visited, worked and worshipped here. Many began as Welcomers!
Education and Outreach
Ever fancied being a Monk for the day? Or do you enjoy getting sticky with glue and paper? Let your imagination run wild with our visiting school children as they discover the secrets of the Cathedral.
A background in Education or previous experience with children is desirable.
Fundraising
From Dinners in the Crypt, to concerts, book-launches and auctions - come and join our Fundraising team to help on unique one-off special events.
Also...
Volunteers are also needed to help with serving up in our busy and popular Tea Room and we even have people who help us polish the brass!
To register an interest in any of the above volunteering opportunities, complete this form and post it to the Chapter Office. Alternatively, contact us here.
